Shared drive limits

On a server, or on a workstation?
With XP Pro there's a 10-connection limit - XP Home has 5. But I'm not sure
where your shared drive is located, so it's hard to say. With a server OS,
it's unlimited.

XP Home Edition allows a maximum of 5 other computers to connect to
its shared resources simultaneously. XP Professional allows a maximum
of 10 other computers to connect to its shared resources
simultaneously. Computers that aren't actively connected to a
computer's shared resources don't count against the limit. When a
computer disconnects from a shared resource, it no longer counts
