Hi, I need to know for a school project how to give a computer, who's not in a domain, rights to a shared folder.

Example:
I have a shared folder called: abcd on a Win2k3 server
This server is called: FILESERVER
I have a computer called: CLIENT

How do I give this computer rights to access the share on FILESERVER???

Access permissions are not assigned to computers; they are assigned to
users. Make sure that FILESERVER has an account/password that is identical
to the current account on CLIENT.

Correct me when I'm wrong.

For example, i have a WinXP computer with an account Test, with 12345 as password.

I have to create an account on the Win2k3 server with the exact same password.

And that should work?

Yes, because if you don't then the Win2003 server does
not know who you are.

Makes no difference. Why don't you try it for yourself? It won't hurt!
