Share file security.

I have some problem with setting file and folder security.

Before, some folders in one of the share folder was deleted by some one. So,
we have set security to control some folders in share folder that some
folders can only read and some folder can control all.

However, some users access the share folders as Domain User and some users
access the share folders as a local user of that file server.

However, for ease control, we have seperate the folders into two main share
folder. We move all need full control folders and files to the new share
folders and the remain old share folder is keep as all read only.

The problem occur.

In the new share folder, I have add back the Domain User and that local user
to have full control to all objects and folders. The users using local user
as connection have problem coz some files does not have permission for that
local user and when I try to add back the security, even I use Domain Admin
to login the server, it only allow me to view the file security and dun
allow me to modify it.

What can I do...

Phewww,

I hope I can make this easy to understand. I won't go into too many
explanations, just recommendations that may help you get started
(using what I've written below, read read read the screens and all
prompts and you should get there) :

1) Make sure "Administrator" has full control on all
directories and subdirectories.

2) For any user who is in two separate groups, the most
restrictive permissions will apply out of the permissions
given to the two groups for a particular folder !

3) Share permissions allow you to set permissions for users
who access that directory from a remote PC.
The permissions on the Security tab allow you to set
permissions for users who login to the PC itself.
Out of those two permissions, again the MOST RESTRICTIVE
permissions apply at all times !

I hope this gets you there.
