I ran "sfc/scannow command", its restore some file in
orginal state. Before running sfc command my system is
updated with SP4 & all hotfixes via windows update site.
Now I need to reinstall SP & other hotfixes.
Does sfc make a change in files which are changed by
hotfixes & SP.

No not normally. The files that are updated Service Pack or hotfix are usually kept in a folder off C:\WINNT that sfc will use to replace any files that need to be replaced. The exception is Post SP3 hotfixes (Pre SP4) sfc will overwrite those. You have to be at SP4 to avoid that from happening which you are so you should be OK.

A different problem with SFC.
My client has a number of PCs which don't have local CD-ROM drives but which
were obviously installed with the OEM Windows product using a master
generated with a local CD.

If I try to run SFC I am advised that the wrong CD is in the drive. Even if
I map a drive to the CD-ROM drive on the network server which contains the
appropriate OEM CD, I still get the same message.

I have also tried copying the CD to another hard drive partition on the
local drive and substituted an appropriate drive letter for its location -
same result!

Is there any way to run this operation in this situation, perhaps by further
command line parameters not shown when typing SFC /?
