Setupapi.log and keyboard problems

Suddenly I can't seem to use the 1,2,3,4,7,8 and 9 keys (along with their
respective cap symbols). I can use the numeric keypad for those numbers,
however.

What's perplexing is that the problem seems to have occurred at the time
that my Windows 2000 Setupapi.log changed.

The text in the log is as follows:

[2005/09/17 22:53:16 1588.6 Driver Install]
Munged cmdline: "E:\WINNT\system32\rundll32.exe"
shell32.dll,Control_RunDLL "E:\WINNT\system32\main.cpl",Keyboard
EXE name: E:\WINNT\system32\rundll32.exe
Selected driver installs from section STANDARD_Inst in e:\winnt\inf
\keyboard.inf.
Changed class GUID of device to {4D36E96B-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}.
Set selected driver.

I just attached a new keyboard (similar model) and I can use all of the
above keys. Is it possible that those keys just stopped working, or is
the change in the above log indicative of spyware or a virus. I ran
Avast and a bunch of Spyware Programs in addition to crap cleaner. No
virus was indicated and some spyware was removed, but I still can't seem
to use the number keys on the old keyboard.

Keyboards fail -- simple as that.
