Setup is starting Windows 2000 - but it doesn't.

Installing Win2K from the command line using \i386\WINNT.
Goes through all the file copying okay and re-boots to start Win2000.
Blue screen (not BSOD) title: 'Windows 2000 Setup' and message 'Setup is
starting Windows 2000'.
It then activates the floppy drive - light is on - and stays there - nothing
else. No floppy in the drive. Not using floppies.
Was expecting it to be 'Preparing to run Windows 2000 for the first time' or
whatever and ask about region/locale settings.
Anyone got any ideas - please !
Kevin.
TIA

I am having the same problem and have posted a similar
note under the XP group since this occurs also while
trying to install a resh copy of XP. I have changed the HD
and the problem perisist. The worse is that I was able to
install 98 wihtout a problem. Note: I did have 200 and XP
isntall previously, also there are no articles related to
this issue on any of the technets or knowledge bases.

Yes, I know, I checked Mcriosoft resources before posting around the
newsgroup. :-(
I was wondering whether XP Pro might work better, but if it doesn't for you
the ts not worth me buying it.
I am not too sure if this is a problem with VIA KT333 chipset used in the
GA-7VRXP or something else.
Now I know I'm not alone with this problem - can anybody suggest a course of
action ?
Thanks.
Kevin.

Agree it does look that there is a problem with the North
Bridge Chipsets, the worse is that Microsoft has a work-
aorund but it assumes that you get past thefirst reboot,
were you can go into the recovery console and add the
chipset driver, which I have found is not ncluded neither
in XP nor 2K. I am really at a lost aaand would like some
help:(
