Why are you using Maxblast?
Are you making Fat32? If so, do not use Maxblast.
Get FDISK as slow as it is and use that.
Otherwise, boot on the XP CD, don't use floppies, delete
all the partitions and let XP make and format.

Barring a bad mem chip or a cheap CDRom drive, I never
have a problem with XP installs.
I use only good quality CDRom drives (usually Liteon CDRW)
and always boot on the CD.

I'm using "MaxBlast 3" only because it came with my new
Maxtor 40GBYTE hard disk drive. It was used to simply
partition and format (NTFS) the drive for full usage.

The only reason I'm using the 6 diskettes is , I guess,
my ignorance of not realizing I could simply us the CD
(i.e.; providing I change my BIOS to read the CD-ROM "E"
drive first instead of the floppy "A" drive). I will do
this as you have instructed.

However, for the record, do you think that one of the 6
diskettes is corrupt or just plain bad? I've used them
before with no problems at all.

Please reply.

Thanks for the assistance.

The message is for Mark.

For the record, I did as you suggested were by I
installed Windows XP Professional from my CD-ROM Drive
instead of utilizing the 6 diskettes. It did the job.
It's all installed on my new Maxtor 40GBYTE hard disk
drive. Thank you for the suggestion.

However, I now have another issue. My drive letters have
changed with respect to the following installed drives:
3.2GBYTE Hard Disk Drive "D" is now "F", DVD Drive "E" is
now "D" & CD-RW Drive "F" is now "E". What do I need to
do to get my drive letters back to their normal
identification?
