Setup for Windows Vista Home Premium

I currently have XP-32Bit (Media Center) as OS on my computer. What I would
like to do is install Windows Vista Home Premium-32Bit on a separate disk
partition in a dual boot configuration so that I will be able to switch
between the XP and Vista. The processor and MB on my computer will allow the
dual boot configuration and I have 4 GB of Memory which I believe will be
sufficient. Appreciate if anyone can tell me if the setup of Vista Home
Premium will allow me to install it on a particular disk partition to
accommodate the dual boot. Thanks.

Yes, during setup, select the Custom install and select the dedicated disk
partion you created for Windows Vista Home Premium and installation will
install to it.

On this computer with XP (32 bit) w/SP2 , I installed the full retail
version of Vista HP (32 bit) on a second hard drive. My XP drive has C, D
and E partitions on it. I setup a new 2nd hard drive while in XP with F and
G on it. Then I copied all the files and folders from the Vista HP DVD to a
temp folder that I created on the F drive and then ran the Vista setup from
there while in XP. It installed fine and now on bootup I see the boot
manager screen and can select Vista (default) or XP (listed in the boot
manager as 'earlier version of windows'). F is now the boot drive for Vista
and of course C is still the boot drive for XP.

One reason I did it this way was because Vista would not install from my DVD
drive even though XP did install just fine from it previously. Apparently
there's a Vista bug that causes this problem with some DVD drives. In any
case, the way I ended up installing Vista HP was extremely easy: copy the
files from DVD to hard drive and then run Vista setup from hard drive while
in XP. Couldn't be easier. I would think that it would also work fine if you
copy the files from the Vista DVD to a partition that you're going to use
for Vista on the same physical hard drive.

Of course if it will install from your DVD drive you can still install it
from XP or you may want to boot from the DVD and do it that way.
