setup for multiple languages

Alan

How do I configure Vista so I can switch between languages (e.g.,
English default and Arabic sometimes), esp. for Word, PowerPoint,
etc.?

Has anyone used the old Microsoft on-screen keyboard for Arabic,
or is there a better alternative now?

Thanks, Alan

Hi,

Depending on what kind of language support you wish to have.

If you wish to have Office display in another language, you would need
additional language packs for Office (2003), and I don't know about 2007
since I have no intension for using it.

If you just wish to have things like spelling (and grammar) checking for
Arabic, you can go to Office Language Settings for adding additional
languages and/or set the default language.

For adding additional input methods, just go to Regional and Languages
Options/Keyboards and Languages and add additional input methods under
Change Keyboards.

If you need Vista to display in another language, you will need the Ultimate
(or Enterprise for business) and then you can download additional languages
from Windows Update.

PS: I could be wrong but I didn't see Arabic is listed at this time, but
maybe I just missed it.

If you wish to install Arabic applications, you may wish to consult the
software vendors if the software is written in Unicode (most newer software
from a reputable vendor should be), and if not, you may need to change
System Local under Administrative tag so it won't turn into random
characters.

Hope this helps.
