setup.exe problem when installing new software

i just bought a minolt magicolor 2300w color laser
printer.
i went to use the CD to set it up - and i got a Microsoft
error window - "we are experiencing a problem with
setup.exe"
so i went to the minolta site and downloaded the same
drivers thinking that the cd rom was bad - when i went to
set it up - i got the same error message - so i can't
even use this printer.
by the way - the instructions in the printer clearly
indicate that i should NOT use the Add Hardware Wizard.
any ideas?

Yes, contact Minolta tech support. This is their issue, you've made every
effort to install the drivers they provided on their CD as well as from
their web site without success. You' recently purchased the printer, it's
likely still under warranty and they are responsible for this type of
support.
