New xp install on new computer. Windows cant find the hard drive. Tried
installing Hd and controller drivers with F6, no good. Hard drive light runs
so HD is running.
Bios sees the hard drive so what is the problem?

F6 option is for RAID or SATA,are you running either....Also,if so you need
to configure these in the BIOS first.Plus, read youre owners manual.....

Thanks for the quick respond. Yes I am using a SATA hard drive. Not trying
to put a raid together yet. I did read the manual for the motherboard - it
wasnt very helpful. The bios does see the drive and I have the SATA
configured as IDE in the bios. I would like to get another HD in the future
and set up a raid 0. I did try loading the raid drivers and the HD driver in
the F6 option because nothing else was working and I thought Id try it.

Doesnt matter whether you are using raid or not you might still have to F6,
The exact process however depends on the mobo and as such you have to re
read the instructions.
PS Did'nt you post this Q some time ago?

no wasnt me, but its been resolved. Seems the MoBo had a bad HD controller.
Got a new MoBo and partitioned and formatted drives from recovery console and
everything installed fine!
