I had AVG 7.5 & upgraded to 8.0. The 8.0 caused my HP PSC1315 all in one to
stop working properly. I disabled/uninstalled AVG and installed Avast, which
reaked even worse havoc. I uninstalled Avast and now am running no
anti-virus, only Windows Defender.

I am no longer able to uninstall the HP software. Have tried reinstalling,
hoping it would overwrite the corrupted drivers, to no avail. Errors I am
receiving: at startup the system tries to install TrayApp and returns a Error
1706, TrayApp.msi--Network resource unavailable. Have also received AiO CDB
software.msi cannot be found.

When I try to open the HP solution center, which is where one should be able
to access all HP functions, I receive a Parsing Error in file:
C:/programfiles\HP\Digital Imaging/bin/hpqscloc/1033.xml.

I hope my system is not ruined. What's my next step?

THANK YOU!!

Avast is perfectly compatible with Vista 32bit and 64bit versions.
Don't talk crap!

Where did he say that it wasn't compatible, bloke? I think you should
put that bottle down.
Don't talk crap!

The poor guy was just describing all the problems he has. And you
talk to him like that? Tsk. Tsk.

Not nice!

Try doing a System Restore to a time prior to your two installations.
If you are lucky, your first installation (8.0) might have set a
restore point and you can use that one.

I've tried Restore---that was one of the first things I did and it was to no
avail. Though I restored (or tried to) to a point when I had AVG 7.5, the
settings had still been hijacked.

Mick's responses were a joke, as he is too. Instead of giving substantial
answers, he chose to be a jerk. Gee, thanks!!

Any REAL answers/options would be greatly appreciated!

I am still using windows xp and interesting I am now getting a error which is
saying the same thing, trayAPP.msi missing. Now my computer after running so
great for a long time is very sluggish and very slow and is asking to go to a
disk and download the trayapp.msi. What do I need to do without reformating
and starting all over? Any suggestions would really be helpful.

Thank You
Don

Sorry, but after all the helpful advice and sarcastic input which was of no
consequence to me, I uninstalled and reinstalled Vista Home Premium. There
are some real wise guys on this site who like to see themselves in print.

Am on Windows XP and also have AVG.
I'm having the same or very similar situation:
Windows Installer window keeps popping up.
Says TrayApp.msi must be run from a CD
I don't have a CD
This occurred when I tried to do my monthly backup to external hard drive.
Have not been able to efficiently use my computer since.
AVG is not running. Can not open Microsoft Word as it keeps telling me a
program is already trying to run and I must finish that installation first.
That installation is ... of course the elusive .. TrayApp.msi
Frustrated as hell!
Can anybody help ... or do I have to call Billie-Bob in India and stay on
the phone for hours? Option two: Contact Microsoft who will tell me it is an
AVG problem/mistake. Contact AVG who will tell me it is a Microsoft
problem/mistake.
Option three: Run all my recovery and applications discs (again) and let it
erase all my files. Four or five weeks worth of work down the drain.

Suggestions welcome .... Please!!!!

I know it has been a while since I

Again, I'm sorry for my bad behavior.
