What error messages do you get?
What anti-virus do you use?

McAfee antivirus is among the top three troublemakers for Windows Mail.
The only way you can prove or disprove that McAfee is the culprit is to
uninstall it, followed by using their debris removal tool:
http://service.mcafee.com/FAQDocument.aspx?id=107083&lc=1033

Another option is to upgrade to Windows Live Mail, which is more
resistant to the adverse effects of aggressive antivirus products:
http://get.live.com/wlmail/overview

In any case you must disable any antivirus email scanning, for the reason
explained here:
http://thundercloud.net/infoave/tutorials/email-scanning/index.htm

-- Right,, i have removed mcafee and done the removal thingy, i next updated
to windows mail live and i still keep getting the same two messages, either
that i have to keep entering my user name and password but i know i have them
right as i can log onto the sky website, or that the error is about not
having enough memory i have tried both pop3 and imap on windows live as well,
not sure what else to try except lob this thing out of the window!!!!!!
thanks....Fi

I feel like you are missing some small detail.
Did you enable POP within your account on the Sky site, as mentioned in
http://mysky.sky.com/portal/site/sk...6e22-4418-84bf-f57631d43f9c&articleId=3075710

Do you have another email account you can try in Windows Live Mail,
such as a free Hotmail account? This will prove that your email program
and computer are working properly.

Hi, yes thats the first thing i did, i followed everything they said step by
step and even got a friend to do it in case i was doing it wrong, i have
added my hotmail and yahoo acc to test them and they work just fine, shame
its the sky i want set on there!! when i do send and recieve i get mail for
both of those but it always fails with the sky account, i have even tried
forwarding it to the hotmail acc but still no luck, maybe sky are blocking it
some how, i will search the site for how to email them and see if they can
help.

If the other two accounts are working, then something is wrong with
the Sky account. One thing you might try is to delete that Sky account,
then restart your email program and recreate that account. Sometimes
accounts get corrupted for no apparent reason.

US-based free Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no POP
access. Windows Mail does not handle webmail.
There are three possible solutions:

1. How did you access Yahoo mail before? If you are happy with
webmail via your browser, you can continue to use that.

2. Pay Yahoo to get their premium "Mail Plus" service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/overview/index.html
and use the special settings for that service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

3. Another option is called YPOPs. It is free, but requires some technical
knowledge to implement:

Since your error message below says Server: '127.0.0.1', you are
probably using YPOPs or a similar proxy. We can't provide support
for third party solutions.

Note: WLM questions should be posted to the WLM newsgroup:

.... but if that is the case, then it should almost certainly not be
port 110. FreePOPs uses port 2000 by default, for example.

Dear Gary,

Thank you for the quick response. I almost fix it but still i have few
problems. I copy it and paste it below.

"Unable to send or receive messages for the Yahoo (my email address)
account. The connection to the server has failed.

Server: '127.0.0.1'
Windows Live Mail Error ID: 0x800CCC0E
Protocol: POP3
Port: 110
Secure(SSL): No
Socket Error: 10061"

Please note Im only using Yahoo Mail Classic. Will it be possible to
get this merge/connected with WLM?

Something (an anti-virus set to scan email?) has changed the server to
127.0.0.1, which is you own local machine and won't work. Turn off the
email scanning and set your mail up again.

Email scanning should be turned off in any anti-virus. Also exclude EML
files from the scan. It provides no protection not provided by the regular
resident protection.
Besides that, McAfee and Norton are not compatible with Windows Mail and
Outlook Express and should be uninstalled. The latest version of Trend's
anti-virus seems to be causing problems too.
