Is there a way I can set the view and column widths for all my folders in
Outlook 2007?

Yes. The tecnique is described here:
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/grouping.htm . While this page describes
how to alter the grouping for all folders using a specific view, you can use
the process to change any configurable aspect of a default view. USe the
"Format Columns" modifications.

Hi Brian.

This isn't working. It only modifes the view in the folder I am currently
in. I made the modifications in the Inbox and when I go to other folders my
modifications are not present.

Then you're not doing it correctly. You probably did not reset all views to
their defaults first.

I did reset the views first. I followed the instructions and I just tried
it a second time. Same thing. It only changes the view for the folder that
I run these steps on. I had to go to the Sent Items folder separately and
do it for that folder to get it to work there.

State the exact steps you're taking and what you see at each point. I know
it works because I've dont it.

First step was to open Outlook using outlook.exe /cleanviews.
Then, with the Inbox highlighted, I went to Views-Current View-Define Views.
Then, with Messages highlighted, I clicked on Modify.
Then I modified my views and clicked OK to return to the Custom View
Organizer.
Then I clicked on Aplly View.

That was it. This did not change the view for Sent Items. I had to go in
there and do it manually.

Thanks.

I created a view (or modified one) for a speecific folder and that has
applied to lots of folders. I don't want to do cleanviews - I may, but
mainly, I want to know what I did so as to avoid doing it again. I made a
view for a specific folder, with a user-defined field, and I keep seeing that
user-defined field when I go to folders that I have not used for some time,
and to which that field would not be applicable.
