How do I standardise columns & widths for all new folders?

I am using Outlook 2002. I have managed to set things up such that when I
open a new folder and then select a view I get the columns I want, but they
are all over the place in terms of widths - I want a new folder to
automatically open with the correct columns and widths. Also I have a lot of
data files to import ... these are correctly columned etc on my old computer
but when I access them from the new computer I have to laboriously put
everything straight again.

Hope this makes sense and someone can help!

You change the default view or define your own view in View-> Arrange By->
Current View-> Define Views...
In Format columns you can set the width.

I appreciate that, although I don't get the option to "Arrange By->" I go
straight from View to Current View. The question is how do I automatically
open a new folder with

1. All the correct columns.
2. All the columns the correct width.

I have many data files and while I can do as you suggest it is positively
laborious to have to do it for each folder ... I cannot believe the process
cannot be automated in some way.

Hoping there is an answer!

"I don't get the option to "Arrange By->""
Sorry, just noticed you were running Outlook 2002 instead of 2003.

If you modify the default Messages view the changes will reflect to all
folders that are still in this default view. You can reset yourfolders to
the default Messages view by starting Outlook with the /cleanviews switch.

If you define your own view you can apply it with just 2 clicks on first use
of that folder when you have the Advanced toolbar enabled.
