Column widths expanding in Tasks table view

J

Jim

I keep returning to my Task list in table view (usually By Category) to find
that the column widths have expanded causing it to be difficult to read the
text in the right-most column (in this case, Categories). Though I proceed
to correct the column widths to something more useful, when I return to the
view at some future time, the problem is back.

Any help would be appreciated!

Hi Jim,

Do you mean that: You changed the column width for the Category column. And it will be auto reset when you switch to other folder
and then switch back?

It may be caused that there is problem with your custom views in the Tasks folder. Follow the steps below to see if it works.

#1 set the reading pane
==========
Go to the Tasks folder.
Click the View menu > Reading Pane > Bottom to set the reading pane in the bottom. Is it helpful for the Tasks table list view?

#2 Restore the default views
==========
1. Exit Outlook
2. Click Start > Run > type outlook /cleanviews, click OK.
3. Go to the Tasks folder. Change the column width for the Category column.
4. Switch to other folder and then switch back. What is the result?

If the above steps don't address the issue, please take a screen shot of the Tasks folder view. And send it to me at v-
(e-mail address removed). Thus, I can see what happened with the Tasks folder view.

If anything is unclear or if you have any other concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Regards,

Emily Lin

Hi, Emily,

Sorry for the delay responding. I did set the reading pane and I liked it.
It didn't change the behavior of the self-changing column widths at first,
but they seem to be stable right now. I didn't want to use /cleanviews as I
have a few complex views that I don't want to lose.

Thank you (albeit belatedly) for your help.

Hi Jim,

Nice to hear from you. I understand that the task view is stable now and you will not use the /cleanview command to restore the
default view.

If you have any other questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me. It is always my pleasure to be of assistance.

Have a nice day!
