Who is your email service provider? Or to ask that question another way,
what is the part of your email address after the @ symbol?
Your email provider will typically have a web page that shows how to
set up an email program. If you need more help, tell us the name of
your email service provider.

It depends....

If you have the free Hotmail account in the US, you'll have to use the newer
WIndows Live Mail program.
Hotmail/Live Plus account..

If you have the Plus account, or live where MS has opened their POP3
servers, then

For Gmail, do you use POP3 or IMAP?

In addition to Dave's response:
US-based free Hotmail accounts are scheduled to get free POP
access next month.

ok so far you have helped me the most im trying to reply to an ad on
craigslist and every time i try to send the email a box comes up and says
tasks and another tab errors then with codes and alot of writting it says
make sure the server name (e-mail address removed) which is my email addy is
correct do you know anything about how i can fix this situation?? I can not
reply to any job posting on craigslist

Is that Yahoo email address your only email address? US-based free
Yahoo accounts have webmail access only, no POP access.
Windows Mail handles POP mail but not Yahoo webmail.
There are two Yahoo solutions:

1. How did you access Yahoo mail before? If you are happy with
webmail via your browser, you can continue to use that. There is a
new fix for setting Yahoo webmail as the default mail service in Vista:
http://www.pchell.com/support/yahoomail.shtml
Use the second method (YAttach) shown on that page.

2. Pay Yahoo to get their premium "Mail Plus" service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/overview/index.html
and use the special settings for that service:
http://help.yahoo.com/l/us/yahoo/mail/original/mailplus/pop/pop-14.html

If you are OK with using a non-Yahoo email address, you have three other
solutions that will work with Windows Mail:
* Use the email address assigned to you by your ISP.
* Get a free Gmail account.
* Get a free Hotmail/Live account.

Let us know if you need more help with any of these solutions.
