setting up network

Hi.

My problem is that when i run the network setup wizard is not seeing my
ethernet lan, only the wireless option, which i don't want to use.

This is despite the system tray indicating that the LAN is connected.

Two days ago things seemed Ok, i.e. i could play games on the network.
Now it doesn't work.

I have just directly connected the two pcs with an ethernet cable.

Is this right? It seemed to work temporarily.

Why is the LAN not showing in the wizard?

try disconnecting the cable from the ethernet port, after that try the stup
again if it asks you to connect it then its working normally if not then
there might be a problem with it or with ur settings

you're right, and it did show up when i disconnected it.
Now i can see both computers on both computers, but i can't connect to the
shared folders of the one i'm not using, whichever that is at the time

if i click to view/explore the 'other' pc i get a 'network path not found'
error message

any clues? thanks in advance
