setting the administrator rights

recently i was given the blue screen on my computer me
and the mom in law did the recovery. now there is all my
old info still on the pc but some of the info i cant get
to, how can i go about getting to that info? ive tried
several ways and it tells me im denied. so any help would
be appreciated i would like to at least get my poems and
pictures back that are there.
