Setting Idle Time Before Disconnect?

Anyone know how to set an idle time limit on XP so that it disconnects from the
internet after exceeding the limit?

In your network connection for dial-up there is an option called Idle time
before hange-up but if you are running those stuffs like MSN messenger then
good luck man your connection is hardly to be idle.

Unfortunately, that doesn't do it. I have it set to 20 minutes, and it never
disconnects me. Maybe there's some background program (firewall?) that keeps idle
time from accumulating?

Some programs use the internet all the time without users knolege like MSN
Messenger, ICQ, Keep-alive options, exc'. These programs will use the
internet to check for new emails, status checks (ICQ) and there are programs
like Keep-Alive that just sending to the internet packages without info just
so the internet connection will not disconnect.

To find out that you're connection is Idle or not you can use NetLimiter to
detect an applications that use internet connection. As long as these
programs are running and using the conneciton your internet will not
disconnect by the Idle option.

Internet Options, Connections, Highlight the dial up one you use Click
Settings, click Advanced and set the Disconnect if idle setting

Be Warned though, that regards activity as your using keyboard or mouse,
and will cut off a large download if you go away to let it get on.
