I would like to be able to have powerpoint open a
presentation in the normal view, but instead of the slide
list taking up the left-hand 1/3 of the screen, I would
like it nonexistent. Every time I open a presentation I
have to drag the divider line to the left. I would also
like to see more of the notes so I have to drag the
horizontal slider bar up. Is there any way to make PPT
remember the last view and open the presentation in the
preferred format?

Elliott,
You haven't mentioned the version 2000 or 2002?
In 2002 you can set the default view in the Options dialog. For 2000, visit
the following page http://www.mvps.org/skp/download.htm and look for 'Set
Default View' add-in. It is a free add-in.

It is 2000 and thank you. Nice web page. Is this your
business or a hobby?

One more thing - once you download an add in, is the
installation a separate operation, AND once added in, is
it possible to remove an add in?

thanx.

The commerical add-ins on the site are business, the rest of the stuff is
hobby.

Depends on the type of installation. If it comes with a setup, then you can
uninstall at any time from the add/remove control panel applet. If you've
downloaded a zip file, then you can delete the folder into which you
extracted the contents of the zip.

Loading the add-in is separate steps, some of the my setup programs do it
automatically. Some need to be loaded manually. You can always unload the
add-in from the Tools | Add-ins dialog.
