Setting Amount Of Allowed Connections

In Terminal Server, how do you increase the amount allowed
connections, using Remote Desktop?

It seems if you sit idle for too long, the TS breaks the
the connection and when you try to log back in, an error
message prompts "The Server Has Exceeded the Maximun
Amount Of Connections" and does allow access.

Any Thoughts Would Appreciated.

Have a look at the settings for time-out on idle and disconnected
session.
You can either choose to not disconnect idle sessions (disable the
time-out limit on idle sessions), or set a very short time-out on
disconnected sessions and have them reset.

The limit on the number of concurrent connections can either be set
on the rdp-tcp connection, in which case you can modify it, or it
could be imposed upon you by the number of available server and/or TS
CALs, in which case you have to buy more CALs.

Dear Vera

Where would these settings be changed? Under Services?
Remote Desktop policies? Where would I find these
particular commands?
I like the idea of a short idle time & timming out for
reseting!

Thank You In Advance... Jim B

Your information helped (stir me in the rigt direction,)

On W2K, right-click on rdp-tcp connection. Somewhere there is a
"Limit number of connections" button (can't check exact location
at the moment).

If using 2003 GPO, you can set this in
Local Computer Policy\Computer Configuration\Administrative
Templates\Windows Components\Terminal Services folder
Limit number of connections

The default is that there is no limit set. I'm not 100 % sure what
exactly generates your error message about the limited number of
connections. Possibilities are:
* hardcoded limit set on rdp-tcp connection : see above
* short of TS CALs
* short of server CALs

You can check the last 2 possibilities within TS Licensing Manager
and the Licensing applet in the Control Panel, respectively.
