setting a Rules custom action in Outlook

Guest

Hi! When I try to set up a rule in Outlook, and I select the option "perform
a custom action" from the "what do you want to do with this message" dialog
box, I'm unable to set anything up. When I click in the "select custom
action" dialog box, and click in the box "choose custom action to be
performed", there's nothing there to choose. How can I create a custom
action that I want done?

Thanks for your response! The problem is not only are there no actions
listed in the "choose action" field; it will not let me even type in an
action, or browse, or anything. Are the custom actions in the link you
posted something that would need to be installed by the tech folks in my
office?

Yes, custom actions are separate components. Outlook does not come with them.

So, how do I create a custom action? Do I need to download something from
the MS Office website?

Creating custom actions requires C++ or Delphi and Extended MAPI programming knowledge.

If you have particular functionality in mind and want to try to write VBA code to accomplish it, post details in the microsoft.public.outlook.program_vba newsgroup.
