Set "Visible Pointer" to default for slide shows

I'm using Powerpoint 2003.
Is there a way I can default my Arrow pointer in Slide Show view to always
visible? Now, it's always set to "Automatic" which means the pointer
disappears after a period of inactivity.

Melissa,

on your presentation go to the "slideshow" menu
setup show > tick "kiosk" mode

Then the pointer will always be visible. This setting is saved with your
presentation.

Only downside, is that you then have to include some kind of "navigation"
buttons on your slideshow to go forward and back.

if you put two rectangles on your slide master

right click each one and assign an "action settings". One for forward, one
for back

Done

Thanks Taj,
that's something new I learnt but you're right in that the side effects
outweigh the "advantage" of having a visible pointer.
If there's no other way to set the pointer to default and still retain all
the other functions, I just may post a suggestion...
