This is a general question. I'm considering installing XP
on my system , and I understand after install the program
must be registered. In my case , I periodically up grade
my system by adding new hard drives, video cards , memory
and even motherboard/processor up grades. I assume that
after any of these changges I will have to re-registar XP
or will I need to purchase another copy.
Any comments greatly appreciated ..Thanks

Hi Carl,

It's activation, not registration (which is optional) and you can still
periodically upgrade your hardware. Occasionally (not always), you will need
to reactivate the system when the number of hardware changes accumulates
sufficiently. This article from MVP Alex Nichol can help explain:

No. Registration is completely optional.

But activation, which is what you're thinking about, is required.

No. You have to reactivate only if you make a bunch of hardware
changes within a 120-day period.

or will I need to purchase another copy.

No, you never need to do that.
