set up question

I am a new user to windows xp. Where do I find the MS-Dos
prompt. Outlook keeps telling me I have an error in
prefetch/outlook.exe and to run chkdsk but I cant find the
dos prompt to do so.

Silly question, I know, but I cant find it

There is no MS-DOS prompt. Windows XP contains no MS-DOS.

However you can get a command prompt window, emulating MS-DOS, by
going to Start | Run and typing CMD.
