Set powerpoint slide as desktop background

I have downloaded a PowerPoint presentation with multiple slides, and would
like to select one particular slide for my desktop background.

Try saving the presentation using the Save As type of JPG file. You will
then have a picture file that you can easily set as you desktop. If I recall
correctly, you can either do that by right-clicking on the picture and
choosing an option to set it as your desktop or through the desktop control
panel.
