Set A Contacts Default Email Address

Hi there,

I am using Outlook 2003 and I have many contacts that have multiple email
addresses and I can not seem to find the option to allow me to specify which
email address is the default for my contacts that have more than one email
address as I when I used this option in previous versions it was a lot easier
than clicking on the To: and choosing the address I wanted..

Any help is appreciated.

No version of Outlook considers one email address as "default" for a
Contact.
Perhaps you were using the Windows Address Book before.

electronic addresses separately.

appear first when you invoke the Outlook Address Book, just set it to do so
in the Address Book > Tools > Options...

For your second question, most users make use of the autocompletion feature
to present a list of the most frequently used addresses, then use the To:
button only when they need to look for an alternate address.

Here is what I want to do once again maybe this is a little clearer this time:

For example I have a contact named Curtis Matthiesen and his email addresses
are as follows:

(e-mail address removed) (as Email 1)
(e-mail address removed) (as Email 2)
(e-mail address removed) (as Email 3)

Now what I am wanting to do is to know that when I address the great
majority of the messages they will go to (e-mail address removed) without me having
to do anything other than just type in Curtis Matthiesen and know that it
will be sent to Email 1.

I am wondering how I go about telling Outlook which email address to use
when I type the contacts name for those contacts of mine that have multiple
email addresses.

I hope this clarifies things a bit otherwise I will write back...

I understood your question. My answer still stands. Did you not understand
it?
The easiest thing to do is to use autocompletion to select your recipient.
The most recently used entry will always pop up first.
Or if you prefer, you can turn off autocompletion and use autoresolution.
With autoresolution, if you enter part of a name or a nickname then tab out
of the field (or hit Alt-K [Check Names]), Outlook will attempt to resolve
the name against your address book. If it can't it'll red underline it and
you can right click on the name to manually resolve it. Outlook will save
the resolution for future use.
