Services Wont Stay Started

Hello All,
I have a client that some services, even tho set on Automatic will not start
on bootup. The dhcp, windows audio, the security center, and firewall
services, although set to automatic will not startup when the PC is booted
up. I am able to start them in the Admin tools and they stay running until
the machine is turned off. When restarted the next day they are off again.
Initially the Workstation service and the Server service were also off but
they now seem start up normally. Any ideas what may be happening? Im at a
loss to come up with a solution. Running XP SP2.

Thanks in Advance

UPDATE your antivirus software and run a full system scan.

UPDATE whatever anti-spyware applications that you have and run a full
system scan with each one.

You might want to start in Safe Mode to run your antivirus and anti-spyware
software.

Running a full system antivirus scan or anti-spyware scan in Safe Mode can
be a good idea. Some viruses and other malware like to conceal themselves
in areas Windows protects while using them. Safe mode will prevent those
applications access and therefore unprotect the viruses or other malware
allowing for easier removal.

I had run symantec antivirus(version 10.1.5000),adaware and spybot in safe
mode with the system restore off and no viruses were found and only cookies
from the spyware programs. However, in restarting the PC after running the
programs all services started as they as suppose to. Not sure whats
happening but I'll report back if any problems reoccur.

Thank Again

Wanted to get back to the groups on this one. I had also run a rootkit
revealer which also did not find any problems on this issue. I had also run
the chkdsk option which again didnt help. Finally giving up, I did a repair
install and all seems well now. I still am not sure why this occurred but
the repair install did the trick for this one.
