I am trying to install Norton SystemWorks 2006 Premier and the installation
fails, returning an error code that refers me to this "services.msc" area.
It wants me to re-enable the "eventlog" service, but there is NO "eventlog"
listed. Is there a procedure that I must follow to install the "eventlog"
service that is missing. So far Symantec's technical support personel have
been unable to assist me with this failed installation problem.

Hmmm... the Event Log service, listed in the services.msc panel, is a
critical system process. In fact, according to it's own description, the
service cannot be stopped.

If you can find it, make sure it's set to "Automatic" start up type.

If you can't find it in the list, your problem might be that you're already
contracted some kind of virus or malware --- and since you weren't protected
before that point, it's crippling your ability to install updated protection.
Try an online virus scan... I know trendmicro has one. I think the web site
is http://housecall.trendmicro.com

Go into msconfig > services & make sure Event Log & Remote Procedure
Call (RPC) are ticked, posibly all the boxes should be ticked, make
sure you make a note of what is not ticked beforehand.
