Services (Automatic) do not start

Hi, we have XP Pro PC's running on a Windows 2000 domain
controller. Sometimes when the PC's boot up, some of the
services do not start (like DHCP, DNS, etc), therefore
not able to connect to network. We have to manually
retart all the automatic services and restart the
computer.

ANy suggestions on how I can get rid of this problem?

This may be a trivial answer, but have you checked in Start/Control
Panel/Administrative Tools/ Sevices?? All the services are listed
there. For example, right click on DHCP Client, select Properties and
look at the Startup Type. It should be set to Automatic. If not, you
might have to go through them all and check for the correct setting.

As I say, this may be too simple. If there a lot of these settings set
incorrectly, I'd suspect a virus or something catastrophic that has
reset the values. Or maybe someone has been playing with it.

There are sites on the net that list which services are safe to start
on positions other than automatic. Here's a couple of URL's:
