Updating my XP service pack is done automatically however, I want to have
the chance of putting it all (I mean the necessary ones) on one CD so that
I can reuse them later by a reinstallation.
I have downloaded recent patches which after a long search on my harddrive
I found in a hidden map c:\windows\$hf_mig$.
Each update has its own directory with the name KB........ and in it, a
setup.exe file.

My question is, how do I get them to install all at once if the need
arises. I don't want to be opening every one directory and rebooting after
every single update. Run a bat file?

advice appreciated.

See "Automatic Updates Downloads Cannot Be Installed on Other
Computers" (http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=283147).
The folders you can see do not contain the updates, but uninstall
informations for to remove the patches.

You can download the networked version of the Service Pack 2. This is the
complete service pack update. Then, using the Windows Catalog, you can
locate each Hotfix and download them.
