Service Pack 3 question

L

LeAnne

After my computer updated and installed service pack 3, whenever I boot up my
computer, I get an open window with a folder in it called Search Enhancement
Pack. I have to manually close this window every time. Is there a way to get
it to stop popping up? Thanks.

?? I've not heard of this. Must be something MS pushed out to you? Go
to Control Panel > Add/Remove and see if it is in there and uninstall
it. Sounds like junkware to me.

No, I never install any toolbars other than the one I use, but I do use
Windows Live Mail.

To uninstall the Search Enhancement Pack, click Start, then Run (if not
using Vista), [type or copy/paste] the following [line] and press Enter:

msiexec /x {A853BEB2-B270-4645-AAAA-9D83C2233BD3}

Yes, Windows Live Mail beta is installed.

When I tried to uninstall the Search Enhancement Pack per your instructions,
I got a message that says, "This action is only valid for products that are
currently installed." I rebooted to see if it came up again, and it does.

I had a similar problem after installing a Java update. A MSN toolbar was
installed along with Search Enchancement Pack and Default Manager. After the
update/install every time I booted up my computer, I got the an open window
with the a folder called Search Enhancement Pack. First I checked restore
system to see what had been installed or changed recently and saw that the
MSN toolbar was installed right after the Java update. I then went to
add/remove progams and removed the MSN toolbar, which removed the Search
Enhancement Pack and defalut Manger. This solved my probelm.

Good deal - Removing MSN toolbar indicates the enhancement pack is also
removed.

I have "Unlocker" installed on my computer. Right clicked on the search
enhancement page and deleted it. tried everything first, even system
restored to before it appeared.
