After installing service pack 2, my system seems to run a bit slower
especially with anything graphics-related such as Internet Exporer. I have
512 k of ram.

Thanks for any help!!

Sp2 replaces 2700+ system modules. Your drive is very fragmented.
It also purges the Prefetch cache, so you've "Temporarily" lost the XP
Layout.Ini benefits of file placement on your drive. After 3-Days and
several reboots the data will be rebuilt and during an idle period the
system will recreate the Layout.ini and defrag your drive placing drivers
and commonly used applications in an optimized location.
An immediate defrag will help with performance, the other will happen
automatically.
