Service Pack 2, Processes and Misc. Issues

Ok. Starting with Processes how do I know what should and should not be
there? And it's entirely possible that something may have been erased that
shouldn't. I know, no comments about why would someone erase something that
they may need. Have already been there.

For some reason my windows installer isn't working, do I have to completely
reinstall the OS?

Even back when the installer WAS working I couldn't install service pack 2.

Somehow my comp is infected with something. I have norton running, along
with the anti-spyware, but still am having popups and my homepage
automatically redirects to some anti-spyware site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
