I am getting an error message that sayss:

"Files that are required for Windws to run properly have
been replace by unreconized versions. To maintain
stability windows must restore the orgineal versions of
these files. Insert your windowns XP Home Editions
Service Pack 1 CD now

When I put my Windows XP CD in it gives me an error
message that I am using the wrong CD??
 
Hi Kelly, I get exactly the same error message and response re the CD and so
far have been ignoring this (after getting the 'wong cd' message). Any idea
whats causing it? I *definitely* do not have a virus (or spyware/adware).
The error started after the last critical windows update a few days
ago(within 12 hours). I suspect its an erroneous message caused by the last
critical update, or there is a problem with the update.
