service pack 1 installation problem

hi,
I downloaded and tried to install sp1 for windows xp pro, but during the
installation, it said it cannot continue because the windows license is not
valid or something of that sort. What is this and how can I work around it?

are you doing express installation? try downloading the full file (for
network users) and installing sp1a from that.

i assume your software is legit?

The link you sent was helpful.
Something to do with the volume license stuff. I din't quite understand it
myself, but showed it to the technical support guy here who said he
understood.
