Basically you have and Application server that is trying to start but the
exe can not be found. Go into services and look at service that are set to
automatic startup but are not started. Open the properties and find the path
to the executable and see if it is correct. I have seen this with virus
services where that av software removes the exe but not the service entry.

Does it indicate what service failed to start? If not, take a look in
services.msc for services that are set to automatically startup but are
currently not running. You ~may~ find it in there. It could be manual
service that's a dependency though.

Thanks, Richard

Sure enough, there is a service called "Application" with
an executable at: C:\WINNT\System32\ntservice.exe - and no
such file exists.

Can I delete this service? What does it do? If I need
it, then I must copy from the CD?

Thanks again.

John

Richard,

More info on above post. Again just as you said, the
ntservice.exe was probably infected with the hacktool
virus and removed - had a recent round of viruses.

Do I need to reinstall ntservice.exe?

Thanks!

I think you can stop this service, since the ntservice.exe doesn't exist...
and probably shouldn't, from what I found by googling it... seems to be
associated with virus.
