How to end a service? (Event ID 7000)

Re: W2K (SP4) - It's a minor nuisance but I have tried to address the
constant warning below by every Internet suggestion I've found, deleting all
references to Symantec's 'ghost' in folders, files, and register. How to
kill a ghost?

There must be a way to stifle this particular service. Please advise.

Run the command "services.msc" via the Run box, then disable
the GhostStart Service.

I vaguely recall that Symantec offer a sledge-hammer facility on
their site that removes most if not all Symantec applications.

Thanks! Actually, I thought early on that I had followed your suggestion
without having found the service to disable. I must be getting too old for
this. Thanks again.
