Server [Win2000] requests for password from clients [win98]

Hello,
My Server using windows2000[with the service pack 4
installed on it] always requests for password from the
clients. Meanwhile, no persword was set for file access.
This started immediately i formated the workstations and
reinstalled them.
Would anybody have an solution to my predicament?
 
Got WINS installed on the server? W9x needs it. Also make sure you have
options 044 and 046 (0x8) set in DHCP-server, Scope options.
Does the ipconfig/all from the clients show that everything is pointing to
your server-IP?
