Server vs Local Data sizes

I am on Outlook 2003 and receiving mail thought an Exchange server. When I
check the size of my mailbox, the size of the local is different than that of
the server. I am over the limit on the server but not locally. How can I
clean up the server to get below my company limit?

thanks

What values are you checking where? Make sure you are checking your entire
mailbox and not just the Inbox folder.

Right-click on Outlook today and scroll to Properties for Mailbox <name goes
here>. Click on the folder size button. This will show you the size for your
entire mailbox but also break it down for each folder and include calendar,
etc. That way you know what folder(s) are your problem.
Personally I usually recommend to my users to deal with their attachments
first.

I am checking properties for Mailbox -- (My name), and then Folder Size...
When I switch between local and server I am getting different sizes and the
server is causing my over the limit problems

Yes, but note that Chached Exchange Mode doesn't cache all folders and these
would only be available when connected. The size reported by the server is
the actual mailbox size.

Rob,

If your problem is still not solved, I understand! I am in the same
predicament. None of the discussion groups helped so far - including this one.

Dear Roady & Kathleen,

Here's the problem I have (I know it's the same as Rob's):

I use Outlook 2007.
I right click on my mailbox (not a folder in it), and click on the 'Folder
Size' button
I get a dialog box with two tabs: Local Data & Server Data
The Local Data shows a size of 520MB
The Server Data shows a size of 1.17GB
My company set my mailbox size at 1 GB (I need a lot of email)
So, I keep getting messages from sys admin that I am above my limit.
I keep deleting mail (actually moving mail to PST) from my local mailbox
(OST).
My 'Local Data' size gets lesser but my 'Server Data' size remains at 1.17GB
and keeps causing the mailbox size limit message.

My question:
What do I do to reduce the 'Server Data'?

I tried a lot of things - including individually send/receive on all
subfolders,
then I even created a new profile, and generated a new OST file and sync'd
that OST file with the server. Once the sync is done, I still see the server
size is 1.17GB while the new OST file is 520MB!!!

Please help!!

Thanks in advance!
