Server that I publish to won't accept upload unless it's ftp...

HI,
I've been publishing with a 'reputable' server for three months now...
they've got fp extenstions etc....but for the last three days i've been
unable to upload any fp files using normal fp...it'll only take it if I use
ftp...

The tech guys have tried everything...even wiped out my site today and
reloaded the whole thing...still can't publish...the message I get is always
the same: 'unable to find "www....." etc...then it gives me the message with
options as to why it can't open the site: 1. Server doesn't have fp
extenstions (which it does 2. ...proxy (which im' not using) 3... well , you
get the idea...

I'm about to jump off a building with this thing! Frustration abounds!

Can anyone help?

write me at (e-mail address removed) - there's a case of beer in it for the one
who figures out this problem! Promise!

This really sounds like you may have an ISP problem with your
extensions no matter what they say. I had the same problem with my
ISP. Worked then not and they reinstalled the frontpage extensions
and then they worked for awhile and then not. Finally was told after
a couple calls that the extensions were there buy they were corrupted.
Solved the problem by transferring to a newer server with vdeck
control panel and was able to turn on frontpage extensions myself and
have had no problems period since. Took a couple of weeks to get
everything back to normal since I had to backup my site to my drive
and then reinstall when the server transfer took place.

I have always used a window based server but was on an older one and
they initially were going to charge me $50 to transfer but I call
sales and they did it free since I had so many problems. The service
rep checked and cleared it with their superviser.

What I am saying is that if your hosting site is not giving you
satisfaction I will bet that you can find one that will for no extra
costs. I use ipowerweb and they have outstanding service but there are
many others that do a decent job supporting frontpage extension. The
trouble with some hosting sites is that they claim support but do not
either fully support it or are completly in the dark on how to solve
problems, The customer is always right still applies and I would be
worried how long a hosting site will be in business not soloving
customers problem.

.
I support Donald's comments. I look for a host that
provides a Control Panel where I can install/uninstall the
FrontPage Server Extensions. Add e-mail addresses, install
database support. I have six sites hosted here:

As low as $8.95/month!
100mb disk storage plus an additional 50mb MySQL disk storage
3000mb transfer per month - 100 email accounts
