Server service tried to change my domain name to ????

I found the following entries in my event log. Why would anything change the
domain name to "????" ?
My PC is on a workgroup home LAN. Domain is not used. I change the computer
name to "XXXXX" but the "????" is the original text as recorded in the event
log. Can anyone help me decipher these entries?
