today, i migrated my office from one internet provider to another. I had to
readdress our network to their ip range.

In doing so i reconfigured our firebox1000 firewall systems, server, and
dhcp.

in the middle of this the main server indicated it had teh
win32/agobot.rz.host virus, but CA Inoculate had cleaned it.

the server took a significant amount of time to just login to do anything,
it stuck at "applying your personal settings"

upon login I am unable to get to any internet location
the server will say connecting to site (and resolve the ip address) but
nothing will happen.

i also checked the server address by doing a traceroute
it resolved the server to a 169.x.x.x address even though it is configured
with a proper internet address.

other computers on the network are able to connect to this server and it's
shares.

i am guessing this 169.. at the server is part of the problem as is the
virus, I also ran trend and it said it was clean..
from a workstation the server resolves to the correct ip address?

can anyone decipiher this??

Thanks,

Ed

Are you checking this on a server or a workstation?
A 169.x.x.x. address is an autoconfigured address you'll get when your
computer can't get a DHCP lease. Check cabling, NICs, switch ports....also
possible TCP/IP got hosed on this computer... look in your event logs.
