Server Error: Error 2 opening registry key...

D

digitaldiscovery

I manage 3 websites and I only get this error when trying to open one of
them for editing...

"Server Error: Error 2 opening registry key "SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shared
Tools\Web Server Extensions\Ports\Port 80". I've checked the registry and
the key doesn't exist but, like I say, it doesn't prevent me from opening
other sites for editing. All sites are hosted with the same provider and
similarly configured.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Rob

Close FrontPage and use Windows Explorer to browse to:

%UserProfile%\Application Data\Microsoft\Web Server Extensions\Cache

Delete the .web file relating to the web that won't open.

Reopen FrontPage and see what happens.

Is there an entry for the web in Network Places??

If so, delete it.

Also, try opening the web in Internet Explorer and in IE click File > Edit with FrontPage.

See what happens.

Deleting it from Network Places only resulted in a new message that the
folder is inaccessible, even when typing the FQDN. I've run into this
before but can't remember how I got around it. I re-installed the FP Server
Extensions on the server and that may work. I don't get the error anymore
but it doesn't like my password either. I'm glad I don't do this every day.
