Since thursday april 17 th, I have problems with Windows Mail.
With Explorer as well.

It worked fine for two months.

I didn.t change a thing.

When I start windows mail: in the right corner at the bottom of the screen
appears a message:
Receiving mail ... / ontvangen van post

It starts checking if there's new mail, but nothing happens.
After a while I get this message:

Server disconnected unexpectedly / Server heeft verbinding onverwachts
verbroken

Account: pop.hetnet.nl
Server: pop.hetnet.nl
Protocol: POP3
Poort /port: 110
Beveiligd / secure (SSL): nee / no
Foutnr / error number: 0x800CCC0F

To solve the problem I changed many options in Windows as well as Norton.
Checked network connections
Deleted and added e-mail account etc. etc.
Nothing helps.

I use:
Vista Home Premium
Norton Internet security 2008
Asus PC with AMD Athlon 64 X2 dual core processor 4200 +

Please help!

Thanks in advance,

Nina

Are you sure that error message is from Windows Mail? It looks more
likely to be from a different program, Windows Live Mail. If so, you
are likely get better answers in another newsgroup:

microsoft.public.windows.live.mail.desktop

If it's from Windows Mail, most of the versions of the Norton antivirus
program are known to cause assorted problems in Windows Mail,
although seldom immediately. In this case, changing the settings of
the Norton program or even disabling it entirely seldom helps. You
usually have to uninstall it instead. You often then have to run this
cleanup program to take care of what the uninstall left behind:

You may even need to remove your email account under Windows
Mail, then restart Windows Mail and add the account again.

If this cures your problem, you may want a replacement antivirus
program that doesn't cause such problems. Most versions of the
McAfee antivirus program and a recent version of the Trend
antivirus program are bad choices; they cause problems inWindows
Mail also. I recommend either avast! or AVG, either one with a
custom install where you tell it to leave out the part that scans email.
