Server Connection timed out

Hi,
I can no longer publish to http://localhost When I try localhost, it times
out every time! It will time out even if I select one single page to
publish.
I can publish my site to the web with no issues at all. My site is about
6-7MB and I can do a complete publish to the web- no timing out.
I need to view all changes prior to posting them on the web so any help will
be appreciated.

I publish to localhost so that I may preview the website and make any
necessary changes to it prior to it being published on the WEB. The
"preview" tabs do not display any database results making it impossible to
verify all of my changes.
Currently my web resides in a folder in My Docs
I open it with FP and make changes
Then I publish it to http://localhost and have a functioning website on my
local PC
When all is well, I republish it to my www.website address and I am all set.

Right now when I select localhost it times out (almost instantly); any ideas
why?

I can still publish fine to my www.website address.

Why not work directly at http://localhost via FP, this way you don't have to publish to
http://localhost and you can test the site directly from FP via File Menu | Preview in Browser,
thereby eliminating having to publish to http://localhost each time you want to test your
pages/site.

Well, that seems to work with .htm pages but all of my .asp pages display in
HTML code format. Plus it is a pain having to open every page individually.
I know of no way to view the entire site this way. It's highlight a page -
File Menu | Preview in Browser or right click | Preview in Browser.

If you have the site open in FP under http://localhost, then you would select default.asp, etc. to
Preview in browser, then you would just follow your links, etc.

The only difference is that you eliminate the step of publishing the site from a disk-based web to
server-based web, so you should be able to view your .asp pages.

You will never be able to use the preview tab and view .asp pages.

That all works until I need to call from my database (which are my .asp
pages) and then I get the following:
The Database Results component on this page is unable to display database
content. The page must have a filename ending in '.asp', and the web must be
hosted on a server that supports Active Server Pages.

Then you do not have IIS configured correctly to support ASP / VBScript, because if you work under
http://localhost, then you are working on a web server that supports ASP (by default).
