Hi! Hoping you can help me. This morning my boss had a
serious system error which shut him down. After he
rebooted his computer he received a bunch of information
telling him he had a serious syster error and to reboot
the machine again if this is the first time he had seen
this particular screen. After this next reboot, the
computer generated an email report to be sent to Microsoft
but my boss cancelled this instead of minimizing in his
frustration.

Where do I go with this information? How do we find out
what happened?

Thanks for your help,

Tina Langman

Sending that to Microsoft only adds it to a general collection of
troubles - very useful to them in identifying problems, little use to
you or your boss.

As to finding out what happened, see Cari's suggestion.

Also I suggest in Control Panel - System - Advanced, click Settings in
the Startup and Recovery section. There uncheck `automatically
restart`. You can also usefully change the `write debugging
information` to (none) and in error reporting turn off the sending in of
information (at least on his machine). You may now get a Blue screen
failure instead, but at least will get some guidance as to what is
happening, provided he calls you to look before rebooting
