Hi, maybe some one can help.

Until recently, I used the lan card that was built into
my mother board for internet access. I was also using my
serial port 1 for com's with my GPS. Then my lan card
failed. When I replaced the card, I think it took over
com one, and now I can't sync, with my GPS.
Any thoughts !
Thanks

Take a look at the com port settings in the Device Manager ...

Control Panel -> Performance and maint -> System -> Hardware -> Device
Manager

Expand the com port list.

I've never done this myself but it is possible to change com ports....

Open the Windows Device Manager.
Right click on the COM port you want to change.
Left click on Properties.
Click on the Port Settings tab.
Click on the Advanced... button.
Use the drop down list to select the COM port number you want to use.
Click OK.
Click on OK again and close Device Manager.

Right-click My Computer and select Properties from the pop-up menu. Click
the Device Manager button from the Hardware tab and expand (+) the Network
Adapters to reveal your new adapter. Right-click your new adpater and
select Properties from the pop-up menu, then select the Resources tab.

Your network adapter should be on an IRQ higher than four, such as IRQ 9,
for example. If it is using IRQ 3 or 4, that will cause problems with the
corresponding COM port and the Network Adapter will have to be reconfigured.

Repeat the steps above for each Serial Port in Device Manager. COM1 should
be using IRQ4 and address range starting at 03F8, and COM2 should be using
IRQ3 and address range starting with 02F8.
