serial ata hard drive

i am building a new computer with a serial ata hard drive,
and the installation disk tells me that there is no hard
drive connected when i try to install windows.

how do i make windows recognize my hard drive?

Check your boards manufacturers site.
There are usually drivers for the disk controller that you can download.
Put the drivers on a floppy.
Start installing XP and watch the screen.
When you see a prompt to hit F6 to install 3rd part scsi devices, hit F6.
The install will continue.The rest is pretty self explanatory if you read
the screens.
Just follow the on screen instructions and insert the floppy when requested.
